Rape - The Evil Act Of Men That Girls And Women Have To Endure

I have been rather silent for some months now, having said what I need to say on the subjects that matter to me and seeing no point in regurgitating the same views in different entries each month.

But my silence has been brought to an end because of the continuing outrageous and despicable acts of evil sexual violence being perpetrated by boys and men against girls and women across the globe, including this country.

The degree of the incidents of rape can never be truly envisaged or recognised whilst we have a culture of denial, a judiciary that belittles victims and a society that values 51% of the human race as being second class to males. Whilst gender and human biology are used to denigrate and hold back over half of the human beings of this planet, and used to minimise their value as human beings; rape will continue to be the currency of men and the measure of human civilisation and decency.

Given that William Hague, UK's foreign secretary and Angelina Jolie have taken up the cause of highlighting the fact that rape is used as a tool of war, the issue of everyday rape occurring within countries not gripped by war; has finally come to the attention of the media in a way it never has done before.

The recent reports in the media of occurrences of rape and brutality against young women in India, Canada, the USA and in the UK, resulting in the deaths of some of the victims and physical brutality to a majority of others which required surgery, and involved the destruction of their ability to have children; has finally brought me back to these pages in disgust, anger and outrage!

My heart goes out to the victims and the family and friends of those enduring such atrocities being visited upon them, but I know no words of condemnation can ease the appalling physical and mental pain they are having to endure.

Rape is one of the most evil of crimes along with female genital mutilation, and the most common, occurring on this planet. It is far more prevalent than anyone can imagine!

It destroys the victim's life and those of their family and friends. It also often leads to suicide and life-long mental health issues. Yet, perpetrators of such sexual violence often get away with it, and when they do meet justice; they are often given leniency in the form of pathetic sentencing of several years, whilst the victim has been given a life sentence!

Rape is the act of misogyny which is most prevalent in all societies, and is encouraged by the lack of action against the perpetrators across the world. Further, with kids in the UK as young as 10 accessing, on a daily basis, sexually violent porn via the Internet, left alone in their bedrooms by parents who don’t have a clue; a sub-culture of misogyny, warped views on sexuality; and indoctrination by such imagery and attitudes that girls and women only exist for the sexual gratification of the male gender; rape is becoming an acceptable consequence in the minds of our society.

Blaming the victims is certain proof of that!

Whilst many children faced with such imagery will recoil against it, many don’t realise their shock and rage against the images deep inside their minds, whilst consciously accepting them as being sexually exciting due to peer pressure; may well turn into hatred of women and a view of them as being a commodity for use and disposibility!

Until parents start to take responsibility for what their kids are looking at on their computers in the solitude and privacy of their bedrooms, monitor their activities on mobile phones; and repeatedly instill upon them that peer pressure to indulge in sexual vilification and abuse of young girls is unacceptable and outrageous not to mention unhealthy; absolutely zilch will happen to reduce acts of sexual abuse and rape in our country.

The level of teenage abuse, both sexual and mental within their relationships is reaching levels of grave concern for children’s groups and parents across the UK.

Sadly, a culture of apathy, blindness and lack of parental responsibility together with that of schools and a judiciary which still has no moral high ground when it comes to dealing with the victims of sexual crime and the perpetrators, as exists today; will only serve to conspire to encourage the growth of this evil cancer that far too many female children born today will have to suffer in their lifetimes!
