Interesting how as Harold Wilson once said, "A week in politics is a long time." applies to life and not just politics.
My intitial blog was written prior to the riots in parts of England, and at that time, the Government hadn't dared to raise the spectre of it's wish to do something about social network sites, e.g. BBM, Twitter, Facebook; to name only a few.
Well now they have a perfect excuse to do precisely that, and no doubt the majority of the great unwashed will fall for it, accepting it is a price to pay in order to stop future riots, as if!
Reality is of course that there was rioting well before the invention of the mobile phone and all its subsequent ability to create nightmares for politicians and the state. Go back to early 1700s and you will find evidence of riots on the streets of Engalnd.
No, the truth of it is that Cameron and his Con-Dem(ned) government know that once the British people actually wake up (and by the way it will be too late) to the realities of their massive cuts programme which will transform the country into the United Kingdom Of America (UKA); there will indeed be massive protests and demonstrations on the streets of England.
Just as the main aim of the coalition is to de-unionise the UKs workforce, remove all employment and health & safety protection, and to privatise everything; so is their aim to stem the ability of people to organise and gather via the media of social networking sites.
Of course this is considered to be the rantings of mad men and those who are paranoid and full of conspiracy theories.
Fact is, just because you are paranoid, it doesn't mean they are not out to get you!
And Finally:
I lay claim to the phrase 'I Don't beleive it!' which I first used when the bus to school didn't turn up and then three came together! So, Victor Meldrew, where's my royaltyies?!
I don't deny I am a bitter and twisted moaning old git! But I've been around long enough to have the right to do so - and done my bit to try and change things!
Not an armchair socialist like so many, and certainly don't whinge whine and moan and not complain. In fact I'm rather good at it!
